Chocolate is not usually my thing! I'd take a bag of salty chips over chocolate any day of the week, but there is always an exception this time of year. There is nothing more Christmasy and comforting than a soothing creamy hot chocolate.
Over the years I have really had to develop my backbone for my health. I loved the comfort of this warm bevy, but my tummy didn't take too kindly to the milk that always seemed to be paired with it. I'd drink it anyways, and suffer later. Recently I was reminded by a client just how much this creamy dreamy drink needed a serious makeover.
Dairy free? No problem, but sugar free? How will we do such a thing? Just like this...
Now I have heard it many times before... "Oh no, I don't like stevia!" Well before you go ruling it out consider this. Stevia is 300 times sweeter than sugar. Often in products where you "didn't like stevia" there was 1 of two issues.
1. They used too much stevia, making it too sweet.
2. They used a poor quality stevia, giving it a weird after taste.
You see quality matters when it comes to stevia as well, which is why I have come to enjoy Sweet Leaf Stevia only!
Now that we have the sugar question out of the way! Let me just tell you this Hot Chocolate offers protein, healthy fat, a boost of energy and delicious flavour!
Creamy Sugar Free Hot Chocolate
In a small pot over medium heat gently warm almond milk.
Once warmed whisk in cacao powder, stevia, cinnamon, vanilla and coconut oil.
Transfer ingredients to a blend and blend in hemp hearts.
Pour in your favourite mug and enjoy.
