Swapping Coffee Without The Crash

 

Coffee lovers are some of the most passionate people I've met in my life. You will know you have found one when they are told that their precious coffee can be no more and you are able to simply observe their reaction (truth time... sometimes meltdown lol). It is in this moment, you will know... THIS is a passionate coffee drinker!

 

I find it fascinating the hold that coffee has on so many and in fairness to those coffee drinkers (you may be one of them), I have never been a coffee drinker and so truthfully I just don't know what it feels like to sip the "nectar of the gods" as I've heard it put before. 

 

What I can tell you is a little bit about what that coffee is doing to your bowels and if you are struggling with your poops, you may want to listen up! 

 

 

Coffee & your poop

 

You may have noticed that after having your morning cup of jo that you are met with a date with the toilet. There is no doubt that coffee can stimulate a bowel movement and it does so by increasing the peristalsis (muscle movement) of your intestines. Does that mean if you are constipated, coffee in the fix? 

 

Heck no! While it does increase peristalsis, in doing so it shortens the amount of time your intestines have to perform it's duties like absorbing nutrients from your foods and re-absorbing water to help produced well formed stools.

 

So, if you are pooping every morning thinking your poops are perfect, if it is after a coffee, well, that's cheating so let's chat about some coffee free alternatives that won't have you dragging your butt through the day and messing up your perfect poops. 

 

 

Coffee Swaps Without The Crash

 

Lightly caffeinated 

 

For a gentle intro into coffee free land, let's get you started on some lightly caffeinated options. A little bit of energy support never hurt anyone and we can do so without hurting your guts too. 

 

 

Yerba Mate
